PRE-TREATMENT

One of our wellness coaches will check you into the cryotherapy room. If you are a new user, they will show you how to use the machine and assist you with the service. Then you will be left in privacy to undress to your comfort level and put on protective gear – headband, facemask, mittens, socks, and slippers. You will also have headphones to listen to the music while in the chamber. Our wellness coaches will always be there to supervise the treatment as needed and cheer you on!

DURING-TREATMENT

You will choose how long you want to stay in the chamber, with a maximum of 3.5 minutes. Feel free to exit any time and build up your endurance over time with longer sessions.

How do I get the best results from cryotherapy?

Cryotherapy isn’t a miracle cure-all by itself, so patients see the best results when they combine cryotherapy with a healthy, balanced lifestyle. Diet is also a major factor, so it’s very important to eat a balanced, healthy diet after each cryotherapy session.

Is it better to eat before or after cryotherapy?

While it is always good to be hydrated, it’s not required to consume – or not consume – anything pre-session. Post-session, we definitely recommend hydrating and eating a healthy and balanced meal the next time you’re hungry. Eating is completely individual, and has no negative or positive effect either way in regard to the benefits of the treatment.

Do you lose weight after cryotherapy?

Cryotherapy sessions can promote weight loss by exposing your body to the cold, which boosts your metabolic rate and burns hundreds of calories in just a few minutes. The release of adrenaline also means increased energy levels. You will leave the chamber feeling that you are ready to tackle anything.

When should you not use cryotherapy?

You should not use whole body cryotherapy if you have any of the following conditions:

  • Are pregnant
  • Have a pacemaker
  • Symptomatic cardiovascular disease
  • Arrhythmia
  • Acute or recent myocardial infarction
  • Unstable angina pectoris
  • Severe hypertension (>180/100)
  • Peripheral arterial occlusive disease

Other contraindications for cryosurgery are conditions that can be exacerbated by cold exposure such as cryoglobulinemia, multiple myeloma, Raynaud disease, cold urticaria, previous history of cold induced injury at the site or limb, as well as poor circulation at the site or in that limb.

Do you take your clothes off for cryotherapy?

We provide you with thermal gloves and socks, cryo shoes, and a robe. Men are required to wear “DRY” boxers during their whole-body cryotherapy session. Women wear gym clothing or swimwear.

Is it better to do cryotherapy before or after a workout?

Recent research suggests that ice cooling immediately after exercise may reduce your body’s response to training. We recommend doing cryotherapy before training, 5+ hours after training, or on your recovery days.

Should you do cryotherapy before or after the sauna?

We recommend the infrared sauna first, followed by cryotherapy. This sequence is important: infrared heat provokes vasodilation and detoxification. Cryotherapy then vasoconstricts tissue and blood vessels, facilitating reduction in inflammation and pain.
