SkinPen is an FDA-cleared microneedling device that activates the skin’s natural remodeling response by creating thousands of precise microchannels. Unlike radiofrequency microneedling, SkinPen does not deliver thermal energy into the tissue. This makes it a versatile option for clients who want progressive skin renewal with less risk of heat-related pigmentation concerns.

SkinPen is FDA-cleared for improving facial acne scars in adults aged 22 and older and for improving the appearance of wrinkles on the neck in eligible skin types. SkinPen® microneedling followed by a topical PDRN infusion. SkinPen® Microneedling with PRP – $695 | VIP $556

This regenerative treatment combines SkinPen® microneedling with platelet-rich plasma prepared from a small sample of your own blood, often called a Vampire Facial. What is SkinPen® Microneedling?

SkinPen® Microneedling is a non-invasive skin rejuvenation treatment that uses ultra-fine needles to create tiny microchannels in the skin. This process helps stimulate collagen and elastin production, enhancing skin texture, tone, and overall radiance. It also allows for better absorption of skincare products, maximizing their effectiveness.

What does SkinPen® Microneedling treat, and is there downtime?

SkinPen® Microneedling is our medical spa skin treatment, that targets a wide range of skin concerns by stimulating collagen and cellular renewal. It helps improve:

We offer Exosome enhancements to accelerate recovery and boost results—helping the skin heal and glow faster.

Downtime is minimal. You can expect light redness or sensitivity for 24–48 hours, similar to a mild sunburn, followed by visible improvement in texture, tone, and radiance over the next several days. Most clients resume normal activities the next day.

Is SkinPen FDA-cleared?

Yes. SkinPen is FDA-cleared for improving the appearance of facial acne scars in adults aged 22 and older and for treating neck wrinkles in eligible skin types.

FDA clearance applies to the SkinPen device and its authorized indications. It does not extend to PRP, PDRN, exosome serums or other products used alongside treatment.

Is SkinPen the same as RF microneedling?

No. Traditional SkinPen microneedling uses precise needles without radiofrequency energy or heat and has minimal side effects. RF microneedling combines needles with thermal energy delivered beneath the skin.

Does SkinPen hurt?

A topical numbing medication is applied before treatment. Most clients describe pressure, vibration or light scratching rather than pain. Some sensitive areas may feel stronger.

Can SkinPen treat acne scars?

Yes. Improving the appearance of facial acne scars is one of SkinPen’s FDA-cleared indications. Active acne may need to be controlled before microneedling is performed.

Can SkinPen be used on surgical scars?

Certain FDA-cleared microneedling devices may be used for eligible surgical scars. Your provider must examine the scar, confirm that it has healed sufficiently and determine whether SkinPen is appropriate.

How many sessions of microneedling do I need?

While many clients see improvements after one session, a series of 3-5 treatments spaced 4-6 weeks apart is typically recommended for optimal results. Your ETHR LAB medical esthetician will customize a treatment plan for your needs.

What is Exosomes, and why is it such a game-changer?

Exosomes are next-generation regenerative serums packed with growth factors, peptides, and signaling molecules that boost cellular repair and collagen production. When applied after SkinPen® Microneedling, they accelerate healing, reduce redness, and supercharge your skin’s renewal process.

How long does treatment take?

Plan for approximately 60 minutes, including cleansing, numbing, treatment and post-procedure care. The microneedling portion itself is typically much shorter.

When will I see results?

Some clients notice smoother, brighter-looking skin after the initial recovery period. More significant changes develop over several weeks as collagen remodeling continues.

Who should postpone SkinPen treatment?

Microneedling may not be appropriate for clients with an active skin infection, open wounds, severe inflammatory acne, impaired healing, certain bleeding conditions or recent procedures affecting the treatment area.

Tell your provider about pregnancy, medications, blood thinners, allergies, immune conditions and your history of scarring or pigmentation changes.
